This review is coming from a person who has tried just about everything out there to style hair. When I purchased this, I was using both a curling iron and straightener and got tired of changing outlets and heating up 2 products. This curling iron is great. You get the benefit of going from curling iron to curved straightening iron and back in a second. It is easy to change back and forth and the tip stays cool so you don’t burn yourself. The curling iron makes nice smooth curls and the strightening iron can make your hair stick straight. Plus, the ceramic helps tame those frizzies!

An okay product…, September 7, 2007

I recieved this straightener as a Christmas present. Less than a year later, it has broken. The hinge mechanism came apart and I couldn’t gigure out how to put it back together. When it was functional, it worked fairly well on my wavy hair. My hair tends not to hold a style well, but the straightening held up fairly well throughout a day at school. The curling iron did not always work that well, often, when I arrived at school the curls kind of died. Another issue is the clip that keeps the plates together when using it as a curling iron. The clip did not always keep the plates together, causing me to burn myself. The clip area also somethimes snagged my hair while straightening. The curling iron is certainly an innovative idea, but poorly executed. The hot outside plates often created a hazard for me while I straightened. All in all, it was probably worth what it cost. I would reccomend a more expensive straightener for someone serious about her hair.

If you want this iron primarily for a flat iron, I don’t think you will be disappointed. However, when I tried to use it as a round iron, it was very difficult to get the two halves to latch together, and even when I succeeded, they didn’t stay that way. Thus, I really don’t use it anymore. It was inexpensive, so I don’t consider this to be a major loss.

Why I like this brush:

* Bristles do not snag on my hair

* Excellent for use with hair dryers

* Great brush for wet or dry hair.

* Does not cause static when brushing dry hair.

* Has nice weight in the handle

I have had this brush for over a year and just ordered 2 more(one for my purse and another for the office).

update 11/7/2008

Again bought 2 more. One to give as a gift and one to replace one I have lost. This is a great product that detangles without snaging my very fine hair. I bought the gift for my granddaughter who also has very fine hair.

This is the best brush I have used. It does not tangle in my hair or rip out my hair when brusing it when wet. It is great to blow dry with and is also great on dry hair, less static. It has not let me down and I have tough frizzy hair.

LOVE IT!, April 28, 2006

I just got my brush in the mail today and used it. I love it! It doesn’t snag my hair or tangle it like other brushes. I love the design and the color. Overall, a very good product!

Some pluses, some minuses, March 1, 2002

This is my only experience with an ionic hair dryer, so I have nothing with which to compare this one. However, I bought it because I had several expections about its features. Here is how each feature measured up:

Quicker? NO. It may even take a little longer than a standard 1875-watt dryer. The reason is that the fan does not blow very hard. The “high” setting blows about like the “low” setting on a standard dryer.

Reduced frizz/flyaways/static? YES. These are significantly reduced.

Increased shine? YES. My hair is visibly shinier.

Quieter? YES, but qualified. The only reason it is quieter is because it doesn’t blow air as hard as a regular dryer.

Freshens hair? YES.

Another drawback: This dryer is very heavy. It took me several days to get used to how heavy it is.

This dryer delivers almost all of what ionic hairdryers promise, but I was mostly hoping for a dryer to speed drying time. If you have thin hair or hair that dries quickly or have plenty of…

As a child of the Sixties, I still wear my hair long and I blow it dry every morning. When my old Hartman Protech 1600 hair dryer hit the bathroom floor, things weren’t the same. Eventually, in a spectacular pyrotechnic display, it breathed its last.

Since I had paid 20 bucks for it way back when, I was ready to spend that much on a replacement. Much to my surprise, in the 10 or so years I’d owned that dryer, a lot had changed, and now the same money buys a lot more hair dryer, so with some dough to spare, I bought one of these.

Many complain that it doesn’t pack the same wallop as other dryers but that’s a case of perception versus reality. The Conair’s barrel has a larger diameter than most dryers and its fan is quieter, so while the perceptible breeze isn’t as blustery, it’s still moving plenty of air. I like this dryer alot., April 20, 2003

I wrote this review 3 years ago. 3/2006 and this dryer is still going strong.

This dryer is definitely quieter than most. I purchased it after I dropped my previous Quiet dryer from Conair and the clip that holds on the diffuser broke. No diffuser makes a dryer useless to me. I had to use my back-up dryer (not a Conair, the one time I strayed) for a few days. I could hear the difference when I got this new Conair. It’s much quieter and was significantly lighter. I’m not very impressed with the IONIC portion of it, hence the 4 stars. The diffuser is nice and big. It attaches solidly (without clips that can break) and really stays on there. The hanging loop is a big plus too. I will never buy another dryer without one again. I like Conair because they stand the test of time. I’ve never burnt one out. I need a hair dryer that can take a lot of abuse and Conair’s have always been able to do that.

Waste of Money, Revlon unresponsive., February 16, 2011

The one I purchased also fell apart, did nothing in the one configuration where it did not fall apart. It is incomprehensible how this is supposed to work.

I wrote Revlon, received unapologetic instructions to return in a padded, insured envelope if I wanted more than an auto-reply saying there’s nothing they intend to do. In other words, suck it up. It was only . The problem with that is it was intended to buy a product, not intended as a donation to Revlon.

As I’m not going to that length, all I can do is recommend you try another brand. Revlon failed to even apologize for this thing. And it deserves an apology.

Maybe I got a lemon…, January 21, 2011

Maybe I got a lemon, but the product I received was built loosely so it refused to hold the blade. I simply took the blade and popped it into my old shaver and it worked perfectly.

really bad device that doesn’t work and is dangerous, February 11, 2011

I ended up throwing this thing out after one use. It basically won’t stay together and doesn’t actually take off skin well except in chunks. Really very dangerous.

Revlon 1875 Ion Select Stinks!!!, December 3, 2010

This is the worst hair dryer I’ve ever purchased. After about 2 months while drying my hair it would switch from high to low while sparking!!!! If I had kept the receipt I would have returned it, but unfortunately didn’t. Stay away form this junky hair dryer, I read this many times from reviews on other sites, wish I’d read them before purchasing this one!!!

I ordered this item because my curling iron broke, Revelon Model RV052. What was delivered was a Model that was different – I am using this item NOW !!!! Now I have to waste my time again and find out how to send this damn thing back.

I will NEVER order from this company again. I rate this company a ZERO !!

Pleased at first, then got burned…LITERALLY!, January 11, 2008

I bought this hair dryer about six months ago and was very pleased with it. It dried my hair quickly, is light weight, is very cute and priced right. Last week I felt a burning sensation on the palm of my hand and was actually being burned by the handle of the hair dryer! The pearlized pink color is rubbing off on the handle, only showing a duller pink color now. BEWARE OF BEING BURNED!!

Beware of sparks!!, February 15, 2011

I recieved this dryer as a gift for Christmas a few years ago. My favorite collor is pink so of course I was excited.. new dryer – fun collor! I was pleased with the dryer for a while. I recently cut my hair short so I use it all the time now. And with it’s frequent use… it started to spark. And I mean BIG sparks. I jokingly told my hair stylist about my experience with my dryer and he said that he noticed unusually short hairs in some places. It was burning my hair! He also said that he has heard of other people having the same experience with Revlon dryers. He told me that as many hair dryers as he has gone through in his profesional career, NONE of them have ever sparked.. just quit working. Which leads me to believe that this product is VERY dangerous! Don’t be fooled by it’s light weight and cute collor. It will burn you!
