This review is from: Alterna Hemp with Organics Straightening Balm, 5.1 Ounce (Misc.) I have transitioned from a chemical relaxer to virgin hair I like the idea of no chemicals going into my scalp. I work in the business world so I have to be cautious on how I do my hair. So I go to a dominican shop for a wash and set then blowout. The hairdresser tells me about keratin to soften my curl without a relaxer I ask how much it cost and she says the treatment cost 100 dollars (Whew). So I go home and online to see if I can get a organic product that would do the same thing. I ran across Alterna Hemp with Organics Straightening Balm. The next week I take it to the dominican shop she does a wash and set once we took the rollers set out we added the Alterna to my dry hair before she blew it out. Oh my god my hair was straight as usual with a blow out but the surprising thing is my hair has not puffed up and its been a week. My hair, even when it’s not color-treated, is so dry it’s crunchy. While making my way through high-end to low-end “moisturizing” hair products that didn’t make a dent in my dryness, I got a sample of Alterna Caviar Moisture shampoo and conditioner. I didn’t expect much of it–the scent was just okay (IMHO), and the consistency was like most shampoos and conditioners. But my hair was so soft and smooth. After straightening, I usually have flyaways and kinks. But after using Alterna, my hair was as smooth as baby hair. I’ve been using Alterna Caviar for several months now and I highly recommend this. The Rapid Repair Spray is also good. I’ve tried the Caviar Blonde, but it’s not as moisturizing. I switched from Redken to Fekkai but my hair quickly reverted back to a dull frizz ball, barely recognizable as human hair. Reading multiple shampoo reviews I was anxious to experiment further before the brillo pad on my head worsened. Several shampoo brands were immediately ruled out due to my allergies/asthma as their natural products would only make my respiratory status even worse (Bumble and Bumble, Purelogy, Aveda etc). Oh how luxurious this alterna is! My hair felt so clean, my scalp felt free, and it smelled pretty damn good! A nice, soft smell that isn’t overpowering and it lasts all day long. Caviar’s product line is the best I have used in my 50 – some years of dealing with naturally curly, tangle-prone hair. This conditioner with sea silk is such a great find I had to purchase it in the large container (for best buy and simply the knowledge I would not run out for a good while). I have medium length hair which is fine and curly. For years I have tried conditioners which attempt to de-frizz, de-tangle, and maintain the moisture in my hair. However, none feels as good and does the job as well as Caviar’s. The product leaves my hair without any heavy build-up, completely tangle-free, and easy to style. Since I discovered it about two years ago, I hate to use any other conditioner-! The shampoo and conditioner in combo has left me without any damage, “split-ends”, or dry-looking hair. I also color my hair with a delicate all herb blend coloring. The Caviar products are gentle enough to work well even with coloring. I can’t rate this product higher than five stars, but if I could, I’d give it a few extra….that’s how great of a find it is.

I used the caviar moisture shampoo and hemp straight conditioner(directions said leave in three to five minutes but I left it in for fifteen mins. because my hair is thick- then rinse) along with a little hemp straight balm (a little goes along way!).
