I’ve always held Pantene as being one of the premier mass market products. But with my curly, frizzy long hair, almost none of the products, even professional lines, do the job.

I saw this cool square jar on the shelf on sale for .99 at the grocery store on a very bad hair day and bought it. I used it the next day and was amazed. It took the frizz out of my hair and made my hair feel so soft and nice. It’s my expectations that with further applications it will only improve my hair. One thing, however, is that if your hair is really damaged and/or dry/frizzy, then leave it on for 30 min to 1 hour using a shower cap or plastic bag for really deep treatment. It rivals any other moisturizing treatment that costs up to . A great product at a fantastic price! Try it.

A good product for the price, July 22, 2011

I have very dry, thick, naturally curly hair. A good, deep conditioning treatment is usually a once a week thing to keep my hair from looking like straw. This product is thinner than most deep moisture treatments. In fact, it is thinner than my regular, daily conditioner. That being said a little bit of the product goes a long way and the scent is light, and clean.

What I liked…

-The scent is very appealing

-Good coverage with a small amount of product

-Effective to help de-tangle

What I did not like…

-I prefer a richer texture for moisturizing treatments

-The results were good but pretty much the same as my daily conditioner

Overall, I think this product would be the most effective for someone with thinner hair but mine is so thick that I feel I need a product with a thicker texture.

Unbelievable!, November 18, 2010

I have type 3c/4a kinky curly hair and this deep conditioner is amazing! It makes my hair so soft. It’s also great for detangling as well. My curls feel instantly moisturized and a little goes a LONG way. I will uses this for as long as Pantene makes it.

It really thickens hair, December 23, 2006

I have long hair and it got dry and brittle and started breaking off in places. I purchased the Thin-to-Thick pack (shampoo, conditioner, scalp serum, and hairspray) and it really thickened my hair noticeably. The increased thickness made my hair less brittle so it was no longer breaking. The serum actually stimulated hair growth all over my head so the few thinnish patches in my hair will soon be filling in.

Thin to thick is a true statement, August 20, 2011

Just like the shampoo, the product delivers, adding volume and softness to my hair. i don’t have to worry about the harsh unnatural products found in other popular conditioners that I have used in past years.

I bought this conditioner hoping that it would thicken my hair. I was sorely disappointed when I got it because it smells like pure chemicals and I didnt notice any difference. If anything I noticed more hair falling out. Don’t buy this product.

Flat to Flatter, June 21, 2010

I bought this shampoo hoping for some volume. Instead I got the opposite. It made my fine, fly-away hair even flatter and more fly-away. I guess I will have to keep looking. I will not finish the bottle I have and definitely won’t buy it again.

Not good, June 16, 2010

I have very fine, flat hair. This product made it very fine, flat and fly away. Made it soft and silky and really, really fine. Fortunately I had a small sample and got to try it a couple of times. Will not buy full size.

Sorry Pantene, nice try. Don’t bother with this., November 28, 2010

I have been a faithful user of the Pantene Volume line for a very LONG time. They have discontinued that line in favor of this “new & improved” line. Well, in good faith I tried it for a couple weeks. SORRY PANTENE, THIS STUFF DOES **NOT** WORK. This “new” formula leaves my hair dull and super staticky and extremely flyaway…what a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. No volume, no shine, no manageability. My hair is very fine and sensitive, and I must say I settled on the Pantene Volume line after trying a LOT of others…from off the shelf to salon lines. Believe me…been there, done that.

How incredibly stupid and short-sighted of Pantene to discontinue this line, and all the others. From a HUGE selection of speciality product lines, that showed they recognized that all hair types and conditions are not the same, and showed respect for consumers’ preferences and choices, down to only 4 sub-standard choices…well. Even the new name shows lack of respect to their consumers…

I have scalp psoriasis and I use this along with the shampoo and noticed a reduction of the redness and flaking. The smell isnt overpowering and its soothing. Worth buying!

Mixed Feelings, August 9, 2011

I used to love this product. It made my thick hair feel soft and silky. I overall have great hair, but this just added to it. It also really did control the frizz. I was happy and content and I continued using it. Only, I am told that it is important to switch shampoos and conditioners occasionally, and I may listen to this advice, because, recently the Smooth Vitality conditioner hasn’t been working so well on my hair. I must say, I like it better than many other Pantene products, especially the new line- Thin, Medium/Thick different solutions. But, I warn a buyer to reconsider purchasing more than two bottles of this product at a time. I buy my bottles one at a time, which works well when I am unsatisfied.

I’ll never use another product!, August 22, 2009

I searched for years for the perfect shampoo and conditioner for my coarse, curly, frizzy hair. Over the years, hundreds of dollars spent in frustration ended with my discovery of this product. I will never buy another brand again. This one delivers — I can either just blow dry my hair, taming it with a brush, for a more curly casual look, or I can use a flat iron for a silky straight do. Even in humid weather my hair doesn’t do the frizzy thing. AND Redken Smooth Down completely cures the winter static problem. Last winter I ran out of Redken, and used another product — one of the many half full bottles of shampoos and conditioners stashed in the back of my cabinet. The whole day I was fighting static flyaways, and swore then and there to NEVER run out of Redken Smooth Down again…and I never have!

Pretty good, July 13, 2011

I have used this product on and off for years. I am Asian and my hair needs a good conditioner. I like this shampoo and conditioner very much, but it seems to create a build-up after awhile, becuase my hair doesn’t feel as soft and silky. A diluted vinegar rinse works well to get build up off, just make sure not to go to the gym or sweat around other people because the smell lasts for a few days.

I love this product especially the smooth down shampoo and condition. Works miracles on my hair its has a great lather and has my hair managble .. I fully recommended this product anytime.. been using it for 5 years.. BUY IT.

This was exactly what I expected — it cleans my hair and doesn’t have too much perfume. Develops a nice lather. Seems identical to the Pantene Pro-V you buy anywhere else. After the first shipment I signed up for subscribe and save so I wouldn’t forget to get it.

Pantene shampoo, March 21, 2011

This shampoo is Classic Care and I thought I ordered Classic Clean which is a product I have used and really liked. The Classic Care is not right for my hair which is very fine. It makes hair too limp. The Classic Clean gave more fluff and lift. I wanted to return the product, Classic Care, but had thrown away the box it arrived in. I don’t know if I ordered the wrong product or if wrong one was sent.

I’ve tried several other brands of shampoo, including more expensive so-called premium brands and have not found something better than this Pantene shampoo for the price. Most of the other ones dried out my hair (or at least made my hair feel more dry).

The thing I like about this Pantene is that it has a conditioner built in so I only use a separate conditioner a couple times a week and that works out well.

Light Conditioning and Neutral pH, September 2, 2010

I like Pantene shampoo. One of the reasons is that it’s strong enough to really clean your hair but not so harsh that it dries your scalp. In the past I’ve had highlights and I’ve used this shampoo without any detrimental effects. Granted, if I colored my hair again I would use a shampoo made especially for treated hair (probably Pantene, since I’m a creature of habit).

As far as conditioning I have to say that it is very light. For my daughter, for example, who has fine, straight, but remarkably easy-to-tangle hair, we still have to use a detangler. So it’s a lighter conditioning effect than if you used a separate conditioner. Personally I like this because it doesn’t ‘weigh’ down my hair, just controls the humidity frizzes.

OVERALL, a gentle, thorough cleanser with gentle conditioning that makes combing after shampooing easier.

Pantene 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner, May 30, 2011

This item was hard to find in stores. My husband has used this for years. This is the only shampoo he likes. I love the convenience of Subscribe and Save. The price is right and I won’t run out and go to the store and hope it is in stock.
